Signing in with Google
Signing in is optional. Part 1 of the path, interview prep and two labs need no account. When you sign in with Google, Google tells us your name, email address, profile picture and a Google account ID. We ask for nothing else: no contacts, no files, no access to your Google account.
We use these to sign you in, to show your picture in the header, and to keep your progress. We don't send you email.
Your progress
While you're signed in, we save which lessons and labs you've marked complete and the last page you opened, so they follow you to other devices. Your browser keeps its own copy in local storage, which is also where progress lives if you never sign in.
Cookies
Signing in sets one cookie, sid, that keeps you signed in for up to 60 days or until you sign out. While you sign in, a second cookie, oauth, protects the sign-in from forgery and expires after 10 minutes. Both are only readable by our server. We set no advertising or tracking cookies.
Analytics
We count page views and a few course events, such as marking a lesson complete or signing in, with PostHog, through our own domain. It sets no cookies and stores nothing in your browser, so visits aren't linked to each other or to your account: an event can say that a reader was signed in, never which one. Like any web request, it includes your IP address and browser type.
Where it's kept and who sees it
Account and progress data is stored in a database on our own server and is only used to run this site. We don't sell it, share it or use it for advertising.
Deleting your data
Email ping2r3j@gmail.com from the address you signed in with, and we'll delete your account, sessions and progress. You can also remove sysdesign's access from your Google account at myaccount.google.com/connections.
